Built in 256 BC, this UNESCO World Heritage site controls the Minjiang River entirely without a conventional dam.
The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is a 2,280-year-old engineering project that still functions today. It successfully waters over 5,300 square kilometers of farmland across the Chengdu Plain.
Instead of blocking the water with a dam, the system uses a complex network of levees and channels. Standard entry costs 80 RMB during the peak season and 60 RMB in the off-season. You must bring your physical passport for entry verification.
